Child Protection in the Saudi Educational Context

Child protection is the structured system through which schools prevent abuse, respond to harm, protect vulnerable students, and ensure legal compliance under national legislation.

Under the Saudi Child Protection Law, abuse includes:

Schools in the Kingdom carry a legal and moral duty to ensure children are protected within educational environments. This includes clear reporting procedures, defined leadership responsibility, and proactive risk prevention.

Effective child protection systems in Saudi schools include:

Child protection in Saudi Arabia must be legally grounded, culturally aligned, and operationally embedded within daily school practice.

Safeguarding.sa operates as a professional awareness and school support platform and does not deliver statutory programmes within schools without coordination with relevant authorities.

Saudi Child Protection Law – School Leader Responsibilities

The Saudi Child Protection Law establishes:

Definitions of abuse and neglect

About Safeguarding.sa

FROM THE FOUNDER

Safeguarding.sa was established under the direction of Sajid Khan FCCT, Founder and Group CEO of Elite Group and Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching.

After more than a decade working across education in Saudi Arabia, it became clear that safeguarding should not exist only within policies, procedures, and compliance documents. True safeguarding is built through culture, leadership, awareness, and everyday practice.

Safeguarding.sa was created to support that vision.

As Saudi Arabia continues its transformation under Vision 2030, the responsibility to create safe environments for children and young people extends beyond the classroom. Schools, sports organisations, youth programmes, community initiatives, and all child serving environments have an important role to play in promoting safety, wellbeing, protection, and trust.

Our long term ambition is to strengthen safeguarding awareness, child protection understanding, leadership capability, and safer organisational cultures across education, sport, and youth settings throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Through practical guidance, awareness initiatives, leadership development, professional learning, and sector collaboration, Safeguarding.sa aims to support organisations in moving beyond compliance and towards a culture where safeguarding becomes part of everyday practice.

We believe every child and young person deserves to learn, participate, develop, and thrive in environments where they feel safe, respected, supported, and heard.

By bringing together national legislation, recognised international good practice, and practical implementation approaches, Safeguarding.sa seeks to contribute to a future where safeguarding is understood not as a policy requirement, but as a shared responsibility embraced by leaders, educators, coaches, practitioners, families, and communities.

A safer today. A stronger tomorrow.

OUR COMMITMENT

We believe safeguarding is not a policy document. It is a culture.

Protecting children and young people requires more than procedures and reporting pathways. It requires awareness, accountability, leadership, and a commitment to creating environments where safety, wellbeing, dignity, and respect are embedded into everyday decisions and interactions.

Safeguarding.sa is committed to supporting schools, sports organisations, youth programmes, and child serving institutions in strengthening safeguarding practice through education, awareness, guidance, and continuous improvement.

Our goal is to help organisations build confidence in safeguarding, strengthen their understanding of child protection responsibilities, and create cultures where children and young people can flourish.

Working alongside educators, leaders, coaches, practitioners, parents, and communities, we aim to support the development of safer environments across the Kingdom, contributing to stronger institutions, stronger communities, and stronger futures for the next generation.
